Building & Growing the Online Presence of The Grove Pickleball

Challenge

After completing a small website project for High Rise Media, the client returned with a much bigger vision — launching The Grove, an indoor pickleball club in Dallas, Texas. This time, he needed more than just a static site. He was starting a brand from scratch and needed a full digital presence that could grow with the business. The goals were clear but broad:
  • Build a minimal, clean website that reflects the brand’s vibe
  • Tell the story of The Grove and what makes it special
  • Let users book events, join the mailing list, and apply for sponsorships
  • Make content easy to edit without technical help
  • Prevent spam through secure and filtered form submissions
The client had a good eye for design and color, and he provided helpful input from the start. His vision focused on a blue, black, and white theme — and he wanted that reflected throughout the design. With such clarity, we had a great starting point. But turning that vision into a functional, scalable site was the real challenge.

The Solution

We started with collaborative planning sessions to shape the site structure, goals, and design direction. I led the UI/UX design in Figma, keeping things minimal but intentional. The design was fine-tuned based on the client’s feedback, and we moved quickly to development.   The first version of the site focused on storytelling, form submissions, event booking, and clear calls to action. I chose a user-friendly CMS so the client could update content easily without needing to call a developer. Each form was built with spam protection in place to ensure clean submissions. But our collaboration didn’t stop there.
About a year later, the client was ready to expand. The Grove was growing and had just introduced Grove Gear — a branded clothing line. He asked me to add eCommerce functionality to the existing site without compromising its speed or design. That meant building out a custom WooCommerce store from scratch, including:
  • Product variations with size charts and multiple images
  • Payment gateway setup and testing
  • Shipping integration with UPS, USPS, and FedEx
  • Order tracking and custom invoice setup
  • Flodesk integration for email marketing
  • A backend experience that the client could easily manage
Everything was planned with growth in mind. While the gear store was briefly paused during the launch of their second Grove location, it’s now back online — and we’re already exploring exciting updates for the next phase of their brand.

Result

Over the past three years, I’ve helped this client go from a simple brochure site to a dynamic digital brand with a growing audience and future-ready infrastructure. What we achieved:

  • Functional tools for email capture, event booking, and sponsor engagement
  • A scalable eCommerce platform ready for growth
  • A smooth content editing experience for the client
  • A strong, long-term working relationship built on trust and results
